M-Line is
a switchless re-seller. That means we buy wholesale from carriers,
via whose switches our customers make calls. We do not physically
handle the calls our customers make.
We do however operate a small switch which enables us to offer
ancillary services to our customers as part of the main service.
Some typical applications for this are:
1. International diverts.
If you ask BT to divert your number to a foreign destination, they
will do so at their switches and at their rates. If, instead, you
ask BT to divert to a London number we give you, we can arrange for
that London number to divert to your chosen international
destination. The international leg of the call will then be at our
rates. The number will be reserved for your use, as and when you
want it.
2. Voicemail. We can
provide a voicemail services for customers wanting an apparent
London presence.
3. Combining 1 and 2 above,
calls can be stored while the target number is busy and ring back
when the line comes free.
4. Landing an 0800 number
on a mobile. The carriers cannot do that directly because of
charging complications. However many customers of ours who are
small traders point their 0800 numbers to our switch and we divert
the calls to their mobiles.
